Heads must roll at the Royal Mail

I'm sick and tired of this company.

I'm forced to use their service yet am held to ransom by their workers.

According to the BBC the CWU is planning more strikes over coming weeks.

Is this the 70's? Why are we allowing these people to dictate and hold us to ransom.

If they don't like their conditions, do what the rest of us in the real world do - get a new job.

If it were up to me I'd sack every last one of them on the spot.

Workshy, self centred, greedy bastards.

Fuck you Royal Mail and fuck you CWU.

A national disgrace.

I agree, after waiting nearly five days for an item I bought on ebay last Saturday... Having paid for recorded delivery I had hoped that even with the strikes RM would make some effort to get a few days within their SLAs, (obviously they have no such intention!) I will think very carefully before using them in future (given the option...) Unless they decide to compensate us accordingly... Maybe this is something to discuss with Martin at moneysavingexpert.com - either that or I'm in an obnoxious mood tonight ! :)

Maybe you're overseeing the point of the strikes. The postmen are striking because they're getting ripped off by their own company. Their bosses are taking pay rises while the postmen out in the street are taking pay cuts.

These people deliver your post in the morning whatever the weather, so please have a bit of respect for them instead of slagging them off just because "you didn't get your latest purchase off some poxy website quick enough".

If you want to use other companies, use TNT or perhaps get a courier service instead. Then complain how much it costs to send stuff then.

The postpersons are striking because their bosses want to plunder their pension and offer them a wage rise of -0.6% compared to a management rise of 6.9%. If the company you have worked for many years wants to reduce your pension by around 67% AND pay you less make sure you are the first to accept.

So what. Why should I care? I only care about whether my mail is delivered. I don't expect to hold others to RANSOM if I'm unhappy with my job or the terms of my employment. Royal Mail workers have no right whatsoever to do so to the rest of us.

Who do you think you are telling me what I should think?! I'm not asking you if you think its ok not to be happy that my mail is held up by people who are too bone idle to find alternative employment.

I've no sympathy whatsoever. There are many jobs out there - you just have to get off your arse and find one.

I'd say give these companies the job of delivering our mail, raise prices if necessary then sack anyone who has participated in these strikes.

The Royal Mail has been a shambles for more years than I can remember and its those from top to bottom to blame.

Get off your 'right on' highhorse!

"postpersons"

Oh for Christ sake. Can't you speak English or is "English" and offensive term too?

I'm trying to run a business ( www.rcdecorating.com ) and the damn Royal Mail strikes are making life very difficult. I'm trying to get around things by encouraging people to use email and pay by PayPal but lots of people still want to send cheques and have hard copies of invoices etc. Since none of the business mail companies will offer services to small companies I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I say fire the lot of them. I have absolutely zero sympathy left with the unions or this incompetent labour government which is doing nothing despite one of the nation's vital infrastructures being out of action seemingly every week! Something needs to be done and done now!

Doesn’t the Queen have something to say about this, after all its Royal Mail...lol.
Seriously, I use the Royal Mail a lot and with them working one minute and then lying about the next is just not dependable for me anymore.
I have moved to private courier and although more expensive my parcels are reaching there destinations.
Companies are now starting to follow suit, they are being held back with a shit load of Parcels awaiting being picked up and also losing custom as the public don’t want to order an item and then have Royal Mail holding them to ransom to when they decide to deliver it, fuck that, and companies and public are in there right to let them go fuck. As stated, if the workers are not happy, and continually keep on going on strike, get another job. They are just getting on like a load of spoil children, should be shipped off to poverty stricken country from a few months and then decide if they want to strike when they come back!!

These dumb asses don’t realise that they are putting themselves out off a job as the more people that change over to another Courier then there will be job cuts and if everyone decide to use alternative methods then they will have no job to come back to at all as Royal Mail be have no other choice but to shut up shop.

Get your finger out Royal Mail or just fuck off and make way for the companies that can be dependable.

People who say that we all should be sacked for striking obviously dont have a clue what there on about,i mean if your employer suddenly turned round to you and said right were going to change your pay, hours of work, pensions e.t.c then im sure you would not be happy especially after working there for upto 35 years because i am a postie and im losing money every week for being on strike but it does need to be done as the top bosses are taking the piss and i sure aint crossing no picket line! There bringing all these new changes in which they believe are for the good of the company and customers and they dont give a shit about the real workers there.I mean there already from this week making us start work later,i used to start either 4am-or 5am now ive got to start at 7am which means that people wont recieve there mail till even later than they get it already which is wrong,i dont wont to be delivering mail to e.g schools when the kids are leaving and still out on delivery at 5pm,thats no good to no one and its embarrassing for us posties and we get sick of people saying 'oh your late today'but its not down to us and its no good for you the customer
Basically nobody wants to be on strike especially people with familys to support but the people at the top leave us no choice,i can see peoples views that if u dont like your job then find a new one but i have been a postman now for 6years and have enjoyed it but these changes are no good for any of us,workers and customers!

uk-events, to be fair, if all postmen got off their asses, then there would be nobody to deliver our mail. on the other hand, i DO share your intense hatred for royal mail, the administration, the postmen, everything. to give an example,

administration: they sent £15 cheque and 12 1st class stamps to someone who had had their passport (costs £90+) fucked around by these assholes. WHAT KIND OF FUCKING JOKE IS THIS? AN INSULT?

postmen: on COUNTLESS numbers of time, we have had postmen leave parcels outside WITHOUT even knocking on the door. it gets worse, we have had LETTERS, yes FUCKING LETTERS that fit through the FUCKING mailbox left outside, for chavs to scavange upon or the wind to carry it on a mystery journey.
so dave o, i think your sentimentals about the postmen are both INVALID AND VOID
these arseholes don't have any respect or sense of duty for the queen's mail service, they don't even fucking deserve any pay rises, so WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY COMPLAINING ABOUT?

This first guy is absolutely correct! If I'm unhappy with my company, directors, bosses or otherwise I don't take it out on service users! I wouldn't go out and nail members of the public to trees because B&Q weren't paying enough or make cinema-goers sit for two hours with no film shown because Odeon are crap to work for. They are total bastards the lot of them!

I work in the rain cleaning windows and believe me, posting letters through a hole in a door is my idea of heaven in comparison.

Bad working conditions? what about nurses and docters pulling 24 hour shifts, parents doing 2 or even 3 jobs to feed their kids, the list of shitty jobs is endless and so is the amount of people with poor pay.

Now the postmen think they can hold the country to ransom, potentially destroy businesses and cause charities to lose out on the donations they receive at Christmas? the whole world is in an economic crisis and these glorified leaflet deliverers think they have the right to stop doing the job a lot of them don't do properly anyway.

A lot of people have to bend over and take shit in their jobs, the postmen should too.

Oh the poor postmen, they have to go out in the RAIN, oh my fucking god, I bet the doctors, nurses, sewer workers, policemen, firemen, oil rig workers and single parents with multiple jobs are feeling so bad for these poor downtrodden people.

I worked for royal mail once but when I broke a nail on a letterbox I couldn't take it any more.

Long live the scabs and fuck the unions, Thatcher had it right.

Congratulations Royal Mail and the CWU.

I didn't think there was a possibility another union could manage to beat communist Bob Crow in the hated status but you are doing so.

Millions out of work, companies struggling to get by and by going out on strike all you have done is set back British businesses and cost British businesses money. How many people are going to lose their jobs over the postal strike?

I just wish the Royal Mail workers would have thought about the greater picture and others before taking such drastic action. Once is perhaps understandable, but on strike twice in 7 days. Not on.

Should quit and let the others in the dole queue who are desperate for a job in!
