Trident: Independent Nuclear Deterrent

I have to say, I'm in agreement with the Commons vote on retaining our nuclear weapons.

I do have a couple of questions though:

• What exactly is independent about it?
• How can our government deny the right of self defence to countries like Iran if we are to retain our capability?
